i have recently installed windows 7 on my Pavilion g6-2002au Notebook PC but have struck this problem-
the drivers for the below items can not be found and the below message is given for each.

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."
i have tryed using the HP sugested driver downloads but they did not seem to work. i know the hardware is not damaged because i also run linux ubuntu (dual boot) with zero problems.
this is the hardware (found by using a sudu command within ubuntu):
Network- ar9485 wireless network adaptor
network- rtl8101e/rtl8102e pci express fast ether

Please go into the device manager and click on all of your devices needing drivers.
Then click on the details tab.
On the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters you see in the window for each device.
Those will provide the types and model numbers of the hardware and I will send you the links to the drivers you need.

here it is, i wasn't 100% sure how much info you wanted so in the interest of thoroughness vive just provided all info that was in the value box.
im also having trouble with the two left front USB ports. i made a separate post for them, effectivly the same deal as this post. the two ports are non responsive (yet the will provide power to an ipod etc.). the usb at the back right near the the power port works fine. here is a link to other post:
here is the value details for them

First install the chipset driver and reboot. That should take care of the SM Bus controller, and the USB3 controller (1022-7812)
That would be the first download listed.
10EC-5229 is the card reader.
Wired Network...the driver on HP's website is the wrong one for the hardware ID you posted which is why it didn't work for you.
Download and install the 5th one on the list. (Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1497589))
Atheros wireless adapter. Try this driver:
HPQ0004 is the hard drive protection.

ok most went well. Im on the network, yeh!
however the SM buss controller and the two USB controllers are still at alert (within the device manager). i followed the instructions exactly as you posted. do you have any more ideas?

Sorry those drivers didn't work. I was sure they would, so I don't get it.
Anyway, I was doing some searching and came across this thread which shows a solution. It is for a different model PC but it has the same issues of no USB 3 ports, and hardware ID for the SM Bus controller.
See Chick_IV's solution on the second page of the thread marked in green.

Check the device manager under network adapters and see if the wireless card is listed. If it isn't, it is a common issue of the motherboard beginning to fail.
Big problem with motherboards on the dv6000 and dv9000 notebook series.
You can read more about that at the link below, and do a search for more info if you are interested.
The only fix is to replace the motherboard (waste of $$$, IMO), or buy an external USB wireless adapter.
