Sound device: Altec lansing?????? Conexant???????
Can't find out either of these online from HP.
It doesn't appear that HP or Microsoft have an answer or care about consumers. I have seen several people say that they will never buy another HP product and I am leaning that way also.
This recently started happening, and I have seen many, many, many, many people with the same problem. I got it working once, but it slowly went away. I have tried updates from HP,(which failed, besides saying there weren't any drivers) Microsoft, (which said drivers were up to date) and looked for drivers from vendors, no one seems to have an answer and my sound does not work. It looks to me like Microsoft is the problem, I guess that is why Bill Gates is such a rich person. Vista goes away after two years. I have worked with Micorsoft products since Windows 1.0, isn't much better than it was then.
