Hey there! @katty1, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you are getting error plugged in, not charging on your laptop.

Try few steps recommended below.

Click on the Start Button
Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
 Please Shutdown the Notebook
Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter
Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter
Look for "Plugged In Charging" message on the Battery icon

Run a Battery Check from HP Support Assistant.

Refer this article to know how to use HP support assistant: http://hp.care/2fvNQNc

Note: Replace the Battery If Health Check Status shows Replace

Update the latest BIOS for your Notebook from HP Support Site.

If you have an alternate adapter or battery try swapping them and check.

If the issue still persists, please contact HP for service options.

Hi! @katty1, thanks for the response.

As you mentioned you tried the troubleshooting steps and the issue still persists.

Please turn on your PC keep tapping the f2 key on the keyboard. You should boot into diagnostics screen.

Select battery test from the list and run the battery test and let me know the results.

Refer this article to know how to perform battery calibration and battery test.

I will watch for your reply.

Cheers! :)
