Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop has a Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter. It used to work just fine. Now it often does not connect to my wireless lan if the signal is the slightest bit distant. I need to disable the adapter then reenable it and then it works fine. If the computer is idle for a while it often disconnects and I have to do the diable/reenable again.

I have tried to get the latest driver from Ralink but Win 10 won't let me install it (The publisher is blocked). Any ideas?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about your WiFi disconnecting when your PC is idle for a while and wanted to help.

This is a well-known problem with some power settings that allows Windows to disable the WiFi adapter to save power when it is idling.

To fix this, right-click the WiFi device in device manager to see the properties.  See if there is a power management tab.  IF so, open that and ensure that the box to allow turning off the device is unchecked.

Good Luck
