I am getting a message "boot device not found" and "please install an operating system on your hard disk." What does this mean. My laptop is only a year and a half old and I can not afford to buy another one.

First, do you have a. DVD/CD insert or USB. You can install a fresh copy if you have this on your computer & if you have the Windows Installation disk. This is under normal conditions or old school repair technique with a Laptop, however I discovered lately that certain Computer Manufacturers have shut the public off purposely from Self-Repair, literally forcing. Yoiu to be at their mercy for repair. I am not talking Rhetoric just stating a fact. If you are under warranty & have not altered your Laptop, you qualify for a free replacement Hard Drive & Windows Operating System, both are seprate replacement items. Call HP Support give the Nomenclature (name, number, model) of your Laptop, they will look up Hard-Drive you need, likewise, will send USB loaded with Windows Operating System, that came with your Lapotop, because you won't boot it, but, install a fresh copy onto new a Hard Drive.

There are many reasons a computer freezes. Windows Operating may need updating, because, this changes the system to current Internet. Protocal. Drivers for Programs may have fallen off, & need updating, your hard drive could be full at its maximum capacity. You could have to many Programs on automatics Start Up when you turn computer on, or you make be giving the computer to many commands at onetime.

I did a Hard Disk check on my computer and the quick test the hard disk passed. But, on the full test, @ 49% it came up with "Hard Disk 1 Full (305)" and then the smart check said "Hard Disk 1 Smart (301)".....so, what does that mean?

Hi,

Please write full error message.

Statement like : "on start up it says error with fan" does not giving me any indication of the problem.
