neither one works. the first one keeps giving me a message saying the file is corrupt, the second is giving me the same driver install failed notification at the end of the install process that most of the other links gave me. i did what you said in the first reply and here is the value
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C&REV_02
don't know if this helps but if you can help it would be greatly appreciated

Hi:
Try this one...accept the agreement, download and install the first one on the list.

ok, that has done something, but it still isn't working. i am now getting a message saying that the audio service isn't running whenever i hover over the sound icon and i'm also getting an error saying "device cannot start(code 10)" in the hardware and device manager.

Hi:
Sorry that didn't work. I am out of ideas for you.
My recommendation is to read this link about general info on upgrading to Windows 7. Perhaps something in there will help you out.
Good luck! I hope you get it figured out.

The driver Sp34560 failed to load with a message of "No audio deveices are installed. Any suggestions?
I'm running Windows 7 on an HP pavillion dv8135nr (dv8000) CTO Notebook EP409UA#ABA.
These drivers appear to be 64bit drivers for Vista.

Hello Budman10,
I see that your having problems with your sound on your notebook, is that correct?
While looking for information on your system and the error I found this link. It is a troubleshooting document specific for your model and it addresses the no audio device installed error message.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi, kaybee89:
Try re-engineering this xp driver...
1. Download this driver sp30399. You can get it from here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-31530-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&...
2. Run the exe.
3. Go to the extraction folder (Default: C:\SWSetup\SP30399)
4. Edit qta3091.inf:
Search code block:
[Conexant]
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_3091103C
and add this line under:
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_10B9&DEV_5451&SUBSYS_0024103C&REV_02
So the result would look like this:
[Conexant]
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_3091103C
%*WDM_AMCAUD.DeviceDesc%=WDM_AMCAUD,PCI\VEN_10B9&DEV_5451&SUBSYS_0024103C&REV_02
5. Now all you have to do is to install the driver manually through device manager (Driver tab -> Update Driver...) Browse to the installation folder (SWSetup\sp303990 using the browse my computer for software method, and make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked.
Hopefully, that will work for you.
