turning off touchpad

Hello please help -

I have an HP Evny M7 Notebook and would like to temporarily shut off (not permanently) disable the touchpad/mouse - I prefer to use an external mouse most of the time and when I am typing the palms of my hand brush the touchpad and are constantly changing the screen.

I just want to shut it off so I can type freely with no worries.

Is there a secret to doing this?

I understand that you are looking to disable the touchpad on your notebook. 

Not to worry, I will be glad to help. 

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Most of the notebooks have a hidden button towards the top left corner of the touchpad, please double tap it a small light will light up on the touchpad. 

When the light is On the touchpad is disabled. Please refer to this HP Article for assistance and for the other features of the touchpad.
