i turned on my dv72230sa this morning and as soon as it booted it there was a vertical white line about half a cm thick running down the left side of the screen. It overlaps that side of the display and any windows i have open and the rest of the display is perfect. The line remains when powering off aswell. I only got this laptop  in February this year so i'm thinking its a little wrong. Anyone know what caused it and if it can be fixed?

Hi sasksweetie,

I saw your post. Are you having the same issue as megb87 or something similar? That issue is most likely a hardware issue. What operating system are you running? What is your product number?

How long have you had the notebook for?

Find your product number on a notebook:

@ sasksweetie,

It could be a hardware issue but let's start with the graphic drivers. Below is a link to your AMD driver, install that and let me know how it goes.

@Natsantos,

I read that you are having the same problem. So, like above we are going to try the drivers first. Below is a link to your download page for your model. You have switchable graphics, so install both of them please.

Hi sasksweetie,

If the driver didn't fix the issue then it's a hardware issue.  At this point since you are in warranty give HP Total Care a call at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or visit the link below if you are outside North America.
