Update it to what?

Since the webOS servers are dead and gone, there is little you can do.  Many of us have installed Android on them.  See the following post:

The last version of the original webOS software was 3.0.5. If you have this, then that is the last official update. It is possible to reinstall the system, but you will want to (manually) back up your apps and data to retain them. You will then need to bypass the activation to avoid getting stuck on restart. Generally, it's not worth doing this unless you have problems or have existing backups and are happy installing different systems. Details on bypassing activation are pinned at the top of the forum.

Updates and fixes have been developed by users over the years. Many are available in the Preware catalogue ( - requires app or side loading), some are not. Some examples are here:

Details for installing Android can be found in many places.

Finally you could try LuneOS, the new version of webOS, but it is still in development.

It runs some of the old apps, but few new ones have been made for it yet - tech enthusiasts only at the moment.
