iPAQ Pocket PC 26 FA103A

I asked in the Microsoft Community because my old iPAQ Pocket PC says it is 'Microsoft Windows Powered', but they suggested I ask here.

I'm trying to restore, or even read, data which was on my iPAQ but lost when the battery unexpectedly ran out.  I last synced to my PC on 23 Oct 17.

I think the iPAQ really is on its last legs but I would very much like to access the data stored on my PC.  If I reconnect the iPAQ I have to give it a different name as my old one is "already taken", and I cannot restore from the Backup file on my PC because it is "invalid".

Neither can I open the files from my PC - they are PWI files and nothing I do will open them successfully - Word and other suggested apps do not work.

I have used this for many years (!!) and if I have to give it up, so be it - but I do need to access that data if at all possible!

Many thanks for any help or ideas.
