Hi @Joiceey

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re encountering multiple issues with your printer, specifically related to print quality, media handling, and customization options. Let's go through each problem and offer solutions for them.

1. Print Quality: Lines on Prints

If your prints have lines or streaks, it’s typically an issue with the printhead, ink cartridges, or print settings.

Potential Causes and Solutions:

Clogged Printhead:

  • Over time, the printhead can get clogged, causing streaks or lines in prints.
  • Solution: Run the cleaning cycle from your printer’s settings or using the HP Smart app. This should clean the printhead and improve print quality.
    • On most HP printers, you can find this option in Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.

Low or Uneven Ink Levels:

  • If one of your ink cartridges is low or empty, it can lead to poor print quality, causing lines or missing colors.
  • Solution: Check the ink levels through the printer’s display or the HP Smart app. Replace any cartridges that are low or empty.

Incorrect Print Settings:

  • Ensure you are using the right print quality settings for your document.
  • Solution: When printing, click on More Settings or Properties and adjust the print quality to a higher setting (e.g., Best or High Quality), especially if you are printing photos or documents with fine details.

Dirty or Damaged Printer Components:

  • Sometimes the rollers or the interior of the printer can get dirty, affecting the print quality.
  • Solution: Clean the interior of the printer gently using a microfiber cloth and ensure the printhead area is free of dust or ink build-up.

2. Cannot Use Photo Paper (230g, A4)

Many printers are designed to handle specific paper weights, and 230g photo paper is relatively thick, which might be causing issues with paper feeding or printing.

Potential Causes and Solutions:

Paper Weight Limitations:

  • Not all printers can handle paper that thick. The recommended weight for photo paper varies by printer model, and exceeding that weight can cause paper jams or feed issues.
  • Solution: Check the printer’s user manual or HP’s online specifications to confirm the maximum supported paper weight for your model.
    • If your printer can handle it, ensure you are using the correct paper type setting in the print menu (e.g., Photo Paper or Heavyweight Paper).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
