Hi @KostasCFu,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Having your printer not recognize ink cartridges can be frustrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check compatibility: Ensure that the ink cartridges you purchased are compatible with your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3636 printer. Even if they're the right model number, sometimes there are variations that can cause compatibility issues.
- Proper installation: Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed in their respective slots. Sometimes, improper installation can prevent the printer from recognizing the cartridges.
- Clean contacts: Remove the cartridges and gently wipe the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth. Dust or debris on the contacts can interfere with communication.
- Update firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues with third-party ink cartridges.
- Restart printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. Restart the printer and see if it recognizes the cartridges.
- Reset printer: Some printers have a reset option in the settings menu. Try resetting the printer to its default settings and then reinstall the ink cartridges.
If you've tried all these steps and the printer still doesn't recognize the cartridges, it's possible that the cartridges are defective or counterfeit.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
