I purchased an HP 8015e printer back in December 2024 for $99. I just had to purchase my first set of HP ink cartridges for the printer which cost $94. Are there any 3rd party cartridges or firmware/software upgrades I can do to the printer so it will accept 3rd party cartridges so I don't have to keep buying cartridges for almost what it cost me for the printer?

Hi @bhannay,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand that you’re concerned about the cost of ink cartridges for your HP OfficeJet 8015e printer and are looking for alternatives, such as third-party ink cartridges.
While we understand that the cost of ink cartridges can be a concern, genuine HP cartridges are designed to ensure optimal print quality and reliability. The HP Instant Ink program might be a suitable option for reducing ink costs. This subscription service delivers ink directly to your home based on your monthly print usage, which can significantly lower the cost per cartridge.
If you decide to explore third-party ink cartridges, we want to make you aware that while they may work temporarily, there is no guarantee of performance, and future printer updates may block them. Additionally, using non-HP cartridges could void your warranty or cause potential damage to the printer
Please note that using third-party cartridges or refilled cartridges may affect your printer’s warranty coverage. We always recommend using genuine HP cartridges to ensure your printer remains under warranty and works optimally.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
