Hi @4162,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it must be when your HP 416 Inkjet printer is not printing yellow. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Ensure the yellow ink tank has enough ink.
  • If it's low, refill it with genuine HP ink to prevent clogging.

2. Check for Air Bubbles in the Ink System

  • If you've recently refilled the ink, there may be air bubbles blocking the flow.
  • Try printing multiple color-rich pages to push the ink through.

3. Clean the Printheads (Cartridges) – Windows

  1. Load plain letter or A4 white paper into the input tray.
  2. Open the HP printer software on your computer.
    • For more details, see Open the HP printer software (Windows) in the printer guide.
  3. Click Print & Scan, then select Maintain Your Printer.
  4. Go to the Device Services tab and click Clean Cartridges.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and print a nozzle check page to see if yellow is printing.

4. Align the Printheads (Cartridges) – Windows

  1. Load plain letter or A4 white paper into the input tray.
  2. Open the HP printer software on your computer.
  3. Click Print & Scan, then select Maintain Your Printer.
  4. Open the Printer Toolbox and run the Align Printhead function.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

5. Manually Clean the Printhead

If the automatic cleaning didn’t help:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the printhead and gently wipe the nozzles with a lint-free cloth dampened with warm distilled water.
  • Allow it to dry and reinstall it.

6. Print a Solid Yellow Page

  • Open a document, fill the page with yellow color, and print multiple copies to force ink through.

7. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit HP’s Support Website and check for firmware updates for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
