Hi @Tennisbum3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially after replacing the cartridge and updating the firmware. The "Cartridge Depleted" message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e, even after installing a new Magenta cartridge this can often be resolved with a few targeted steps.

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Remove the Magenta cartridge.
  • Ensure all protective tape is removed from the cartridge.
  • Reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Power off the printer.
  • Remove the cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol to clean:
    • The copper contacts are on the cartridge.
    • The contacts inside the printer where the cartridge connects.
  • Let everything dry completely before reinserting.

3. Reset the Ink System

  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Unplug the printer from power for 5–10 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and reinstall the cartridges one by one.
  • Power on the printer and check if the error clears.

4. Try a Different Cartridge (if available)

  • If you have a spare genuine HP Magenta cartridge, try installing it.
  • If the new one works, the previous cartridge may be defective.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
