Printer - HP OfficeJet Pro 8715

Cartridge - Genuine HP 952 XL high yield cartridge purchased from Costco

 

The printer recognizes the new cartridge as genuine HP, but tells me ‘This cartridge is an older generation that does not work in your printer. It can still be used with some older printer models.’

 

Is there a way to fix this issue, or is this just terrible product design where a different cartridge design is still carrying the same product name and causing confusion?
