the printer recognises that cyan and magenta (and yellow) present, but if ask for colour there black with an odd colour that can be related to yellow. There cassettes are not propriety HP, but given the price of these is it any wonder! Does anyone know who can check out printers on the South side of Brisbane please?

  • Are you able to make colour copies from the printer?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?
  • What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?

Thank you for taking the time to reply Echo_Lake,

 

I am not able to make colour copies from the printer. It comes out as a distorted image with blurred colour yellow.

The printer was owned by my sister who passed away and I took over the printer in about June this year and then it ran out of warranty. I have seen colour copies my sister made a various documents but I think these were old and I am assuming with the originally supplies cartridges. I have never been able to print colour but albeit that this is not a high demand function for me I have not worried about it until now where I do need the colour.

I have tried all the recommended fixes prescribed by HP without success. I have even tried to to remove the caveat input by HP to use non-propriety cartridges but none of the Icons in these "solutions" were on the printer or my laptop computer. I suspect that I will be stuck with using HP cartridges.

Your help would be appreciated.  Kind regards ... Charles

I recommend you update the printer firmware

 

Download available firmware updates from the HP website with the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which are refilled, and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
