Hi @Roorooroo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When the color cartridge icon on your printer is displaying an amber light, it typically indicates an issue with the cartridge or the printer recognizing the cartridge. Here's what you can do to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

1. Verify Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the new color cartridge is properly installed in the printer.
  • Remove the cartridge and then reinsert it, making sure it clicks securely into place.

2. Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Make sure the replacement color cartridge is compatible with your printer model.
  • Check the cartridge packaging or consult the printer manual to ensure compatibility.

3. Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the color cartridge from the printer.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
  • Also, clean the contacts inside the cartridge slot in the printer.
  • Reinsert the cartridge and power on the printer to see if the issue is resolved.

4. Restart Printer:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve cartridge recognition issues.
  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and power it on.

5. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer.
  • Visit the HP website and download/install any available firmware updates following the provided instructions.

6. Reset Printer:

  • Perform a reset on your printer to restore it to its default settings.
  • Refer to your printer's manual or support documentation for instructions on how to perform a reset.

7. Try Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, try installing a different color cartridge to see if the issue persists.
  • This will help determine if the problem is with the cartridge itself or the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
