HP ENVY 5052 All-in-One Printer

I bought a HP 65 color cartridge from Walmart and it will not work in my printer.  I went to take it back and they said they could not take an open cartridge back.  I have also ordered from the HP site but to get by I bought one from Walmart.  Is there a way to get my money back on the cartridge that will not work?  I have the box and the receipt that shows the cost.

Thanks,

Diane

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP ENVY 5052 is not recognizing the HP 65 color cartridge. A few things you can try before giving up on it.

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility – Make sure you got the correct HP 65 cartridge and not the HP 65XL or another region-specific version.
  2. Clean the Cartridge Contacts – Gently wipe the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth and a little distilled water. Let it dry before reinserting.
  3. Restart the Printer – Turn the printer off, unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in and restart.
  4. Reseat the Cartridge – Remove and reinsert the cartridge firmly.
  5. Update Printer Firmware – Sometimes firmware updates help recognize newer cartridges. You can check for updates in the HP Smart app or on the HP support website.
  6. Check for Error Messages – If your printer displays an error like "Incompatible Cartridge" or "Cartridge Problem," it may be defective.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
