After my black ink ran out, I popped in a new cartridge, but then it wouldn't print out anything black. Tried all the previously advised steps, i.e aligning and cleaning print heads, wiping clean the connection surfaces, hard reset, trying another new cartridge, etc.
I even rage quit Friday evening and left the printer unplugged over the weekend and tried again this afternoon - to no avail. I then read that someone removed their printer from the list of recognised printers, did a factory default reset and then reconnected the printer to their account and that fixed the issue for them - I've tried that myself and again, no luck.
I'm now at my wit's end - please help

Hi @ToilandTrouble,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with printer issues despite trying so many troubleshooting steps. Here are a few more things you can try to resolve the black ink not printing issue.
Check Ink Levels and Settings:
- Ensure that the new black ink cartridge is installed correctly and has enough ink. Sometimes cartridges might have protective tape or covers that need to be removed before installation.
Clean the Printhead Manually:
- If your printer allows, you can manually clean the printhead. This involves removing the cartridges and gently wiping the printhead with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Be careful not to touch the nozzles directly.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues with new ink cartridges.
Check Printer Driver and Settings:
- Ensure that your printer driver is up to date. Sometimes outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing issues. You might need to uninstall the current driver and reinstall the latest one from HP's website.
Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- HP provides a tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can diagnose and resolve printing problems. It can help identify issues with the printer software, connectivity, and more.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
