I have a fairly new high capacity black ink cartridge from my instant ink subscription.  I  installed it new, and used it four days ago to print 4 color photos (4x6 images - nothing too big or crazy) and it worked just fine.

Today I changed the paper type back from photo paper 4x6 to plain paper 8.5x11 and suddenly the black doesn't work at all.  I tried to print a photo just now (another 4x6) and it worked perfectly.  Plain paper comes out blank.

HP solutions like cleaning the print heads and contact points don't work.  My   software is up to date.  I tried restarting the printer.  When I take the cartridge out the ink comes off black on my finger.

What am I doing wrong?  I'm a teacher at home and I really need my printer!!
