I own a HP Envy 4520. From my Macbook Air 2021 M1, latest version of macOS Sequoia, my black and white prints are now black and green.

i tried … :

- Reinstalling the printer

- reinstalling MacOS

- printing from my iPhone device (it’s prints correctly, so it’s not the printer)

- cleaning cartridges and realigning these

and it’s still printing wrong…

Does anyone have a clue what’s happening? Printing has always been fine before with my Macbook and that printer and nothing has changed in my settings.

thanks! 😉

Hi @NVLDBoy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Print Settings on MacBook

Open Print Dialog:

  • When printing a document, open the print dialog box.

Select the Printer:

  • Make sure you select the correct HP Envy 4520 printer.

Adjust Printer Features:

  • Look for print settings where you can select "Grayscale" or "Black & White".
  • Ensure that "Color Matching" is set to "ColorSync" and not "Vendor Matching".

Disable Color Management:

  • Try disabling any additional color management in the printer settings to see if that resolves the issue.

Update or Reset Printer System on macOS

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers for the HP Envy 4520. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers compatible with macOS Sequoia.

Reset Printing System:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Ctrl + click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system....
  • This will remove all printers and settings. Reinstall the HP Envy 4520 after resetting.

Use HP Smart App on Mac

Install HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.

Reinstall Printer Through HP Smart:

  • Open the HP Smart app and follow the instructions to add your HP Envy 4520 printer.
  • The HP Smart app can sometimes resolve communication issues and ensure the correct drivers and settings are used.

Check for Software Updates

Update macOS:

  • Ensure your macOS Sequoia is up to date with the latest patches and updates.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Envy 4520. You can find firmware updates on the HP Support website.

Print Using HP ePrint

  1. Try Using HP ePrint:
    • If the issue persists, try using HP ePrint by sending the document as an email attachment to your printer’s ePrint email address.

I hope this helps.
