Hi @Colleen2643,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating this situation can be, especially after trying new cartridges and following cleaning instructions. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can take to try to resolve the issue with your HP 6525 printer:
1. Check Print Settings
- Ensure that your print settings are not set to "Print in Grayscale" or "Black and White." Sometimes this can cause color cartridges to work while preventing the black cartridge from printing.
2. Print Head Cleaning
- Although you mentioned you followed HP's instructions, it can be helpful to perform the print head cleaning multiple times. Sometimes it takes a few cycles to clear any blockages.
3. Print a Test Page
- Use the printer's control panel to print a test page or a nozzle check. This can help identify if the black ink is coming through at all.
4. Check for Firmware Updates
- Check for any firmware updates for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes updates can resolve printing issues.
5. Inspect the Cartridges
- Make sure the black cartridge is installed correctly. Remove it and check for any protective tape or stickers that might not have been removed.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and in the printer with a lint-free cloth. Sometimes dust or residue can prevent proper connection.
6. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it, and wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
7. Try a Different Paper Type
- If you're using specialty paper, try using plain paper to see if that resolves the issue.
8. Check for Software Issues
- Sometimes, the printer driver or software can have issues. Try reinstalling the printer drivers from the HP website
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
