HP Officejet 4635 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had a black ink cartridge #61 that has printed many pages and still half full then I went to print something, it printed two pages and I get the error, the indicated cartridges are not intended use in the printer. After checking a few things I found out it's only the black. I pulled the black and I had no problems. So I put a new black 61 in it's place and still the same problem. For the record I ordered these from HP and again, I had printed lots of copies with no problem. These ink cart's are not cheap and I have one full one and a half full one open black ink carts that I can't use now. I tried cleaning the contacts, unplugged and plugged in and the only ink cart that I can print with is color.

@dinman68, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the black ink cartridge is not working. Yes, this model printer uses HP 61 ink cartridges in the US region.

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

If the issue persists, I'm afraid it is the printer at fault as you have used 2 different black ink cartridges. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
