Hi @Elemae

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is producing blank pages when trying to print in black ink, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

1. Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge has sufficient ink. Replace it if it's low or empty.

2. Clean the Print Head:

  • Use the printer’s maintenance menu to perform a print head cleaning. This can help clear any clogs:
    • Go to the printer settings on the control panel or use the HP Smart app.
    • Look for options like Clean Printhead or Maintenance.

3. Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page or a nozzle check page. This can help determine if the issue is with the ink delivery.

4. Remove and Reseat the Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer, remove the black ink cartridge, and check for any protective tape that may not have been removed.
  • Reseat the cartridge firmly back into place.

5. Check for Software Issues:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct printer driver and settings. Update the printer drivers if necessary.

6. Try a Different Document:

  • Sometimes, specific documents or files can cause issues. Try printing a simple text document to see if the problem persists.

7. Run Printer Troubleshooter:

  • On Windows, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and run the Troubleshoot option.

8. Inspect for Blockages:

  • If you feel comfortable, check the print head for any visible blockages or residue. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean it.

9. Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP website or via the HP Smart app.

10. Replace the Cartridge:

  • If all else fails, the black ink cartridge might be defective. Consider trying a new cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
