I printed about 50 copies in black and now my black will not print my color. Does I've changed the cartridge? The cartridge even showed that it was half full. I've cleaned where the cartridge goes in but it won't print black

Hi @Ladysprint,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet 6500 E709n printer isn’t printing black despite the cartridge showing ink, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Run the Printer’s Built-In Printhead Cleaning Tool

  • Go to your printer’s Control Panel.
  • Navigate to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Run the cleaning process multiple times, as it might take a few cycles to clear any clogs.

2. Check the Cartridge Vent

  • Remove the black cartridge and inspect the vent area (usually a small slit or hole near the top).
  • If the vent is clogged, it can prevent ink flow. Gently clean it with a pin to ensure it’s open.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait about 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Try printing a test page to see if this clears any temporary issues.

4. Align the Printhead

  • Go to Setup > Tools > Align Printer on the printer control panel.
  • Follow the instructions to align the printhead.

5. Update Printer Firmware

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
