I've tried to send print job from my email to printer. Message is: Error loading message to print.
Printer does not show black cartridge has ink. I do not have another cartridge to replace it. We were gone for a week and this is what is happening now.

Hi @JAH20,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY 5055 printer is having trouble recognizing or using the black ink cartridge, which can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Open the printer's access door to the ink cartridges.
- Remove the black ink cartridge and reinsert it carefully to ensure it is seated properly.
- Close the access door and try printing again.
Clean the Cartridge and Contacts:
- Remove the black ink cartridge and gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Be cautious not to touch the nozzles or contacts with your fingers.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Run Printer Diagnostics:
- Use the printer’s control panel to navigate to the diagnostics or maintenance menu.
- Run any available tests or cleaning cycles for the printhead and ink cartridges.
Check Ink Levels:
- If you can access the printer’s settings via the control panel or HP Smart app, check the ink levels to see if the black ink cartridge is indeed low or empty.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. You can usually check for updates through the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.
Try a Printhead Cleaning:
- If the above steps don't work, try performing a printhead cleaning using the printer’s built-in maintenance functions.
If none of these steps resolve the issue and you still cannot print black, it might be a sign that the cartridge is defective or the printhead is clogged.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
