I changed the black ink cartridge and the screen showed it was full. Two weeks pass and I try to print something and the paper comes out blank.
I tried doing the cartridge clean in the maintenance menu, but it printed a page with only the other colors, no black

it still shows that the black ink is full (even lowering it’s level a bit) and when I take out the cartridge I see that it has ink, but it doesn’t print

its an hp 6960

Hi @1221-2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ensure Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Double-check that the cartridge is compatible with your printer model and that it is seated correctly in the compartment.

Check Ink Cartridge Venting:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions on the vent area of the cartridge. You can clean the vent gently with a lint-free cloth.

Run A Second Cartridge Cleaning Cycle:

  • It's possible that additional cleaning cycles through the maintenance menu might help. Run the cleaning process again to ensure the printheads are not blocked.

Check For Dried Ink or Blockages:

  • Inspect the ink nozzles on the cartridge. Sometimes dried ink can cause blockages. If you see dried ink, use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently clean the nozzles.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power outlet for a minute. Plug it back in and power on to see if it resolves any internal glitches.

Use HP Diagnostic Tools:

  • Consider using tools provided by HP such as the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can help diagnose and resolve printer issues and can be downloaded from the HP support website.

Manual Clean the Printhead:

  • If the printhead can be removed from the printer, carefully clean it manually as per guidelines with distilled water and a lint-free cloth.

Replace the Cartridge:

  • If the issue persists, try a different black ink cartridge. Occasionally a cartridge might show full when it isn't functioning properly.

I hope this helps.
