Hi @DocRoe,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your black ink is not printing despite cleaning the printhead, replacing the cartridge, and reloading the driver, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:
**1. Check the Ink Cartridge Installation
- Ensure Proper Installation: Make sure the black ink cartridge is correctly installed. Remove and reinstall it, making sure it clicks into place.
**2. Check Ink Levels
- Verify Ink Levels: Even if the cartridge is new, double-check the ink levels to ensure there's enough ink in the cartridge.
**3. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Printer Utility: Use the printer’s built-in diagnostic tools to run a test print or print head alignment.
- For HP printers, you can usually access this through the printer’s control panel or HP Smart App.
**4. Check for Printhead Blockages
- Inspect the Printhead: Look at the printhead for any visible blockages or dried ink.
- If you see any blockages, clean the printhead carefully with a soft, lint-free cloth and distilled water. Be sure not to use too much water or damage the printhead.
**5. Perform a Deep Clean
- Deep Cleaning: If a basic clean didn’t work, try running a deep cleaning cycle from the printer's maintenance menu.
- Note: This may use more ink and can be done multiple times if necessary.
**6. Check for Firmware Updates
- Update Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause printing issues.
- Visit the HP Support website, search for your printer model, and check if there is a firmware update available.
**7. Use Genuine Ink Cartridges
- Verify Cartridges: Ensure you’re using genuine ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause issues with printing.
**8. Inspect the Paper and Settings
- Check Paper Type: Ensure the paper you’re using is suitable for your printer.
- Check Printer Settings: Make sure the print settings are configured correctly for the type of document you're printing.
**9. Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset if the issue persists. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to reset it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
