I have an HP Photosmart 5520 all-in-one printer. After replacing the cartridges, the blank print quality began to degrade. I ran through all of the steps (cleaning the print heads, aligning the printer, clean the cartridge vent, etc.), and -- other than running through most of the ink in my new cartridges -- did not solve the problem. If anything, it has worsened to the point that most of the printed page is blank, and that which has print is heavily streaked. With the cost of cartridges being what they are, and the printer -- which has performed admirably over the years (until now) -- being as old as it is, I am wondering if it doesn't make more sense to get a new all-in-one. Yes, I'd like to solve the problem with the current printer, but...

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
