Hi

I can't seem to erase the thick black streak down the left hand side of the page. I've changed the toner and the drum. I've cleaned.

Also, I now use Mac Operating system  Sequoia 15.3.1 which isn't listed. Not sure if that's anything to do with it.

I'd love some thoughts!

Any thoughts?

Hi @Watersedge55,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with persistent black streaks, especially after replacing the toner and drum. Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this issue.

Check for Toner Leakage or Residue:

  • Since you've already replaced the toner and drum, remove the toner cartridge again and check for any leaked toner inside the printer.
  • If you see toner buildup, gently clean it with a dry lint-free cloth.

Run the Printer’s Cleaning Cycle:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup → Service → Cleaning Page.
  • This will help remove excess toner or debris from the rollers.

Manually Clean the Drum and Rollers:

  • Even though you've replaced the drum, dust or toner particles might still be on the rollers.
  • Use a dry lint-free cloth or a soft, alcohol-dampened cloth to gently wipe the drum unit and pickup rollers.

Try Printing a Different Document or Source:

  • If possible, print from a different device (like a Windows PC) to check if the issue is related to macOS compatibility.
  • Try printing a test page directly from the printer's menu to see if the streak appears.

Update macOS Drivers for Your Printer:

  • Since you're using macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, ensure you have the latest HP printer drivers or use Apple's built-in AirPrint drivers.
  • Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Select your printer → Click Remove Printer and then Add Printer again.
  • Choose AirPrint if HP drivers are unavailable.

Check for Fuser Unit Issues (If Streaks Persist):

  • If the fuser is worn out or dirty, it can cause streaking.
  • If cleaning doesn’t help, the fuser assembly might need to be replaced.

If the issue persists after these steps, let me know so we can explore further solutions! 😊

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
