Hi,

I recently replaced  a black ink cartridge, to a HP 201x. Since then, I have blue spots on all my print outs. I tested printing the exact same text in two version, one in black and one i in light blue to see if I still had spots when the black cartridge wasn't it use. the black version had the blue spots, whereas the black one didn't.  I have contacted the company where I bought the cartridge but they wanted me to check here first, thinking that it might have to do with my printer and not the cartridge. I am sceptical but what could be causing this?67330E5E-2CB2-4B74-AC26-B5705E4A7F5A_1_105_c.jpeg

@PamGM, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow these steps to print a cleaning page:

  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch Setup ().

  2. Touch Service, and then touch Cleaning Page.

  3. Load plain, white paper when you are prompted.

  4. Touch OK to begin the cleaning process.

  5. Try to print again to see if the issue is resolved.

If you still have issues, follow the steps from the document Fixing Poor Print Quality to isolate and resolve the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you TEJ1602 for your suggestions.

I had already tried the Cleaning Page, but did so again now, repeatedly, and each time the paper comes out with blue smudge/dots  all over the paper. I still have the same problem printing too. I have followed the steps under Fixing Poor Print Quality, and nothing helps. I believe my cartridge (HP original)  is defect since this problem started directly after I changed the black cartridge. I did a test printing the exact same page, once in black and once in light blue and the blue print out looked fine while the black one had all the blue dots. I need to get the company where I bought the cartridge to take responsibility. I informed them of the problem more than a month ago and they still have not replaced it.
