Hi @CharlesDee ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you are encountering an error message stating that the HP cartridges you bought are not intended for use in your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-In-One Printer, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue:
Reinstallation: Take out the cartridges, turn off the printer, and then reinstall the cartridges carefully, ensuring they are properly seated.
Check Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure that the cartridges you purchased are compatible with your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer model. Sometimes, incorrect cartridge models or cartridges meant for a different printer can cause this error.
Verify Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Open the printer cover, remove the cartridges, and then reinsert them securely. Make sure they are inserted into the correct slots.
Update Firmware/Software: Check if there are any firmware or software updates available for your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues with newer cartridges.
Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Carefully remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer. Use a lint-free cloth and be gentle to avoid damaging the contacts.
Compatibility: Double-check that the cartridge is compatible with your specific printer model. Sometimes, cartridge packaging can be confusing, leading to purchasing the wrong type even if it's an HP cartridge.
Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. Power on the printer and check if the error persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
