Why isn't my brand new HP Smart tank  printing blue

If your brand-new HP Smart Tank 7605 isn't printing blue consistently, here are some possible causes and solutions.

 

Ink Cartridge or Tank Issues

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure the blue (cyan) ink tank has sufficient ink.
  • Ink Flow Issues: If the printer was recently set up, air bubbles might be blocking the ink flow. Try performing a printhead cleaning.
  • Check for Protective Seals: Ensure any protective tape or seals were removed from the printhead during setup.

Printhead Problems

  • Run a printhead cleaning cycle from the printer’s menu or HP Smart app.
  • Perform a nozzle check by printing a test page—if cyan is missing, run additional cleanings.
  • If the issue persists, manually clean the printhead using a lint-free cloth and distilled water.

Print Settings

  • Ensure color printing is enabled in your print settings.
  • Try printing from different applications to rule out software-related issues.

Firmware & Software Updates

  • Update the printer’s firmware via HP Smart app or HP’s website.
  • Update or reinstall the HP printer drivers on your computer.
