I installed a replacement ink cartridge for an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 and got the message that the cartridge was blocked because it was missing the HP chip. I was using a generic office brand called LOGO, but it was the correct size for a 902XL replacement black. Is there anyway to bypass the block?

Hi @LisaB06,
Welcome to HP Support Community!
To bypass the message on the printer the only option left is to perform an OOBE reset and re-initialize the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
