HP C4795
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to use my HP C4795 in single cartridge (BLK) mode. I put the HP BLK cartridge in and the printer display the message saying COLOR cartridge is missing, and none of the buttons can be pressed/selected. How do I get rid of this message on the printer display so that I can actually make selections on the printer?

Thanks

@KTan, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

This printer uses 1 black and 1 tri-color ink cartridge. It supports printing in single-cartridge mode. For more info, refer to - Printing with One Ink Cartridge

Have you tried this before? Was it working fine?

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Reinsert the ink cartridge and check if it helps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Print from computer is fine.

I tried resetting the printer as you suggested, and tried re-inserting the ink  cartridge as well, neither of these fixed the issue...

I am trying to be able to scan and copy by pressing buttons on the printer. However, nothing can be pressed on the printer side since a message is displayed saying "Cartridge missing or not detected".

Thanks

@KTan

This could be a hardware issue with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
