HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a set of generic toner cartridges that according to the online advertisement and the packaging delivered are "100"% Qualified Compatible Replacement"..."Compatible with: Color LaserJet Pro M255dw/M282/283fdw".  The product description included the following note: "This product DOES NOT come with IC chip, please remove the chip from OEM toner and install it to these Compatible Toners ....".  The advertisement included a PDF with instructions how to remove the IC chip from the HP cartridge and reinstall it in the generic replacement cartridge.  It looked straightforward but looks can be deceiving. I was able to remove the IC chip from the Black and Yellow HP toner cartridges and install them in the corresponding replacements. However, I damaged the IC chip for the Cyan cartridge trying to remove it and the IC Chip for the Black cartridge is not registering on the printer.  I just get a "Supply Problem" error displayed for the Black toner.  I tried using the Chip for the Black toner in the Cyan replacement and got an error indicating the cartridge was not Cyan.   The Yellow toner cartridge does register with the printer.  I have not changed the Magenta toner cartridge yet.  So, as it stands, I have an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw printer with only 2 of 4 toner cartridges that that the printer recognizes and thus the printer will not print until the issue with the other two toner cartridges is resolved.  So, is there any way to get an IC Chip for the Black toner and one for the Cyan toner?  Or, do I need to buy genuine HP toner cartridges, use them, and then attempt to get the IC chips from them when they need replacement?  Any tips would be appreciated.

The HP Support Forum is probably not the right place to enquire about ways to bypass HP supplies security measures.   HP sells printers and genuine cartridges.  They do not sell chips to allow generic cartridges to appear as genuine.

I would suggest you contact your supplier for options.

Thanks.  I've replaced the generic toner cartridges with genuine HP toner cartridges.  All is good.
