HP Deskjet 3772
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Just spent an entire afternoon unsuccessfully trying to sign up for a 6-month HP SmartInk free trial.

Every time I try to sign in for it, I get instructions on how to set up my printer and activate wireless

connection, which I have already done!  They give instructions on how to print out a printer info page which

does NOT have a claim number (which they want you to enter to get the free trial.)  I just purchased and set up

a Deskjet 3772 all in one printer so I am within the time frame to make the claim.  After waiting 25 minutes on hold,

a nice HP agent spent a lot of time with me trying to get this done, but after another 30 minutes with him, I thanked

him and said it just doesn't work.  I asked him if Window 7 works with this offer and he said it does.

I think that HP should do this setup at THEIR end!

@Nongeek21, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are trying to enroll the printer in Instant Ink.

Note: You will have to enroll the printer by going to the Instant Ink website on the computer as HP Smart wont work on a Win 7 PC

Deskjet 3700 printers do not have an ePrint button. Retrieve your printer claim code by pressing the Information button  to print a page titled “Printer Information Page". This page shows the status of the wireless network connection. See the following instructions, depending on the status of the wireless network connection:

  • The printer is already connected to a wireless network:

    1. Press the Web Services button  and the Information button  at the same time to print instructions.

    2. If the printed page does not contain an ePrint address and printer claim code, follow the instructions on the printed page to enable Web Services. After you enable Web Services, a page titled "Congratulations" prints with the ePrint address and printer claim code.

  • The printer is not connected to a wireless network:

    1. Press and hold the Wireless button  for 3 seconds to print the Wireless Quick Start Guide.

    2. Follow instructions in the guide to connect the printer to your wireless network.
    3. Press the Web Services button  and the Information button  at the same time to print instructions. If the printed page does not contain an ePrint address and printer claim code, follow the instructions on the printed page to enable Web Services. After you enable Web Services, a page titled "Congratulations" prints with the ePrint address and printer claim code.

If the "Congratulations" page has only an ePrint address (no printer claim code), the printer was previously claimed to another HP Smart account (formerly HP Connected). Print the printer information sheet by pressing the Information button , and then locate the printer IP address on the printed page. Enter the printer IP address in a web browser and navigate to the "Web Services" section of the web page. Remove and then re-enable web services. A page titled “Congratulations” prints with your printer claim code.

KUMAR0307,

Thanks for your help!  By following your instructions, I successfully enrolled in the HP Instant Ink 6 month trial until I reached the last page which said I would receive a confirmation message of my enrollment.

However, I did not receive that confirmation. How can I check to determine that?
