I have the printer set up to my laptop. All the tests says its working but it prints a clear page. When you ask it to clean print heads it ignores that and nothing happens. Is there another way to get this thing to do alinement or print head cleaning as the software just seems to ignore it

Hi @Tommo71,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand there can be a few reasons why the cleaning program isn't working for your HP Deskjet F4580 All-in-One printer. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the issue:
1. Restart the Printer and Computer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for a minute.
- Restart your laptop.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
2. Update Printer Driver:
- Outdated drivers can cause functionality issues. Download and install the latest driver for your HP Deskjet F4580 from the HP website [invalid URL removed].
3. Reinstall Printer Software:
- Completely remove the existing HP Deskjet software from your computer using the "Programs and Features" option in the Control Panel.
- Download the full feature software from HP's website and reinstall it.
4. Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Gently wipe the cartridge contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- Make sure they are free of any debris or ink smudges.
5. Try Manual Cleaning (Optional):
Warning: This step requires opening the printer and might not be recommended for everyone. If you're uncomfortable, skip to the next step.
- With the printer off and unplugged, carefully clean the cartridge contacts with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
- Let the contacts dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
6. Check for Hardware Issues:
- If none of the above solutions work, the print head itself might be damaged.
- Consider replacing the ink cartridges or contacting HP support for further assistance.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
