Can't print black in on my HP 5520 printer

HP Recommended
HP 5520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am unable to get my printer to print black ink.  I have tried all the trouble shooting on the printer and it still won't print black.  I even bought another new ink cartridge but it still won't print.

HELP!!!

@kjgreeneyes177, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print in black. Let us try these steps:

Check the estimated ink levels and replace any low or empty ink cartridges.

Clean the printhead

  1. From the control panel home screen, touch the Settings icon , and then touch Tools.

  2. Touch the Down Arrow , and then touch Clean Printhead. The printer cleans the printheads, and then prints a test page.

If the print quality on the test page is unsatisfactory, perform a secondary cleaning of the printhead.

If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report

  1. From the control panel home screen, touch the Settings icon .

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Print Quality Report.

If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
