Can't turn off 2-sides printing

I foolishly attempted to print some pages 2-sided! That never ends well!  Anyway I gave up and tried to revert to printing one-sided. I googled it extensively and followed the guidelines but when I went back to the printer the setting was unchanged. I tried restarting but no change. It's been an hour and a half now. In the list of options it already said 'none' and I clicked 'apply' but nothing. Can anyone please  help me? Thanks
