I cancelled the subscription. I purchased a new black cartridge (923). Printer still won't print stating I am missing ink. No customer service contact option is available. Do I need to purchase color cartridges as well to get it to print again. I don't need color. I have college assignments due in two days and no printer.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I had cancelled my instant ink subscription. I didn't need it. I purchased a black ink cart, installed it and the printer display showed "missing ink" and would not let me print. I had assignments due that required a printer. I spent $180 on that office jet and HP locked me out until I purchased all 4 carts of HP ink. All I have ever really used is black. And I have used off label ink prior. So, to avoid turning classwork in late, I threw the printer in the dumpster and bought a Canon for less than it would have cost to purchase HP color ink carts. You live and you learn.
