Cannot do hard reset

HP Recommended
HP Office Jet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows XP

The printer kept telling me there was a failure with inks system and printerhead could not be detected. I've done many things to correct this problem.  But it just seems to be stuck in this loop of giving me that message. I want to do a hard reset. But I can't get the home menu to come back on or the back arrow in order to do it. I have turned off and on or unplugged and plugged back in 100 times. Any suggestions. I bought all new ink cartridges.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Ink System Failure: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04100778 and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure. 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/
