HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Cannot open chamber of Envy 7155 All-in-One Printer to change printer cartridge. I get an error message that the door must remain closed. This is a new issue. I have tried unplugging, waiting a few minutes, and plugging it back in, but that did not resolve the problem. Grateful for any help I can get. Thank you...

Hi @Spartan67,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If you're unable to open the cartridge access door on your HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer and receive an error message stating that the door must remain closed, there are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Power Reset:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and the power outlet.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the issue is resolved.

2. Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the cartridge access door.
  • Gently clean around the door and remove any debris that may be preventing it from opening properly.

3. Use Correct Procedure:

  • Follow the correct procedure for opening the cartridge access door. Refer to the printer's manual or instructions provided by HP.
  • Ensure you are pressing the door release button, if applicable while attempting to open the door.

4. Check for Error Messages:

  • If there are any error messages on the printer's control panel or your computer, take note of them as they may provide additional clues to the issue.

5. Reset the Printer:

  • If the issue persists, perform a semi-full reset on the printer:
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
    • Wait for 60 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord.
    • Turn on the printer and check if the door can be opened now.

6. Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the HP Support website, search for your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available.

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer.
  • Contact HP Support for further assistance.
