@Jacqui1772, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Ink buildup and other debris can affect print quality, resulting in streaks or missing portions in printed documents. Follow these steps to perform print head cleaning on your HP DeskJet 2700 All-in-One Printer series:
Automatic Cleaning
Turn on the Printer
- Ensure the printer is powered on.
Load Paper
- Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
Open Printer Software Utility
- Open the HP smart app (HP Smart)
- Access Maintenance Tools
Start Cleaning Process
- In the Printer Toolbox, click Clean Ink Cartridges on the Device Services tab.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cleaning process.
Manual Cleaning
Turn off the Printer and Disconnect Power
- Press the power button to turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Remove and Clean Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
- Use a clean, lint-free cloth moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the print head and nozzles.
- Allow the cartridges to dry completely before reinstalling.
Restart the Printer
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
- Print a test page to check for print quality improvement.
Important Notes:
- Always use original HP ink cartridges for best results.
- Avoid unnecessary cleaning as it wastes ink and may shorten the print head's life.
- If print quality does not improve after cleaning, consider aligning the cartridges. For instructions on aligning cartridges, refer to your printer manual or use the printer software.
