Subject: Cartridge Compatibility Query - HP M141w Printer with HP142A
Dear HP Support Team, I am writing to inquire about printer cartridge compatibility.
I have the following situation: • I am currently in Portugal (Europe) with my HP M141w printer that I brought from Hong Kong •
The printer manual specifies the use of HP150A cartridges •
HP150A cartridges are not available for purchase in Europe •
I would like to know if HP142A cartridges are compatible with my printer
Could you please confirm whether the HP142A cartridges can be safely used as an alternative to HP150A in my HP M141w printer? I appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Your HP M141w printer is region-locked, which means it will only work with cartridges from the same region it was originally purchased in, Hong Kong in this case. Since the HP 142A is a European cartridge, it won’t be recognized unless the printer's region is reset. If you’d like, I can assist you with the regional reset process to get things up and running!

Thank you for your reply and assistance.
I have already purchased the HP 142A cartridge from Amazon ES, and it has arrived successfully. However, as my current HP 150 cartridge is not yet fully used, I would prefer to completely use it up before proceeding with the regional reset for my HP M141w printer.
Could you kindly provide me with the detailed steps for the regional reset process? I will follow these steps at a later time when I am ready to make the change.

Thank you for the response.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
To access your private messages, simply click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile name.

To perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:
1. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
2. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
3. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.
