HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One - N911n

When my printer ran out of ink, I ordered new cartridges directly through HP ($74). Cartridges arrived and received a new error that there was an issue with the cyan ink (cartridge has failed), removed it and put the old cartridge back in and only received the no ink error. Followed all of the steps and instructions, but continued to have the cartridge has failed when the BRAND NEW cartridge was placed back in. Husband today tried to figure out the issue, so went to the store and bought another PACK of ink cartridges because we could not purchase just the cyan by itself ($74 AGAIN) and the SAME error with the NEW BRAND NEW cartridge. He has taken it completely apart, cleaned EVERYTHING and you guessed it CARTRIDGE HAS FAILED. I'm done and ready to just purchase a new printer all together...Will HP let me return the now 2 packs of ink cartridges and get my money back so that I am not in the hole $140 on ink I will not be able to use? I plan to purchase a HP printer as the replacement, but of course it's not like the ink that I just purchased will work for anything currently on the market.
