Right now I have a "Cartridge Problem", as reported by my printer and the HP Smart app.  I've tried removing the cartridge and reinserting.  I've tried unplugging for 60 seconds and restarting.  I've tried updating the firmware.  I've also tried carefully swabbing the contacts, per the instructions on the support link.  All to no avail.  At most, I have been able to print one page before immediately getting the error again, and this time seemingly for good.

The printer says I may need to replace the cartridge, but the HP Smart app says I can't get another cartridge until the issue with the existing one is resolve, which makes no sense to me.

I've had issues with this printer for quite a while now, but usually powering off and then on again every few days (seems to have issues waking up from sleep) solve it.  But this problem isn't going away and I need to print my ballot for mail-in vote this year.

I almost never print with this thing, and the ONE TIME I ACTUALLY NEED IT, it fails on me.  Is there anyone from support who can help?

This could be an issue with the printer ink system or the ink cartridges. If you have already performed the steps from the document HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.

Yep, the link you indicated is one of the sets of instructions I followed.  I do hope it's not hardware failure, and that it's indeed just an issue with the one cartridge.

I did get an email from InstantInk indicating a cartridge was on the way, but it's for the color cartridge, not the black (the one that is actually indicating the error).

I guess contacting support directly is the only option, I'll see what they can do for me.  I wasn't able to get thru with Chat, so I'll have to try phone-support when I can get the time.
