I have tried to resolve this Cartridge Problem "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged." for almost a month now and I have done all the troubleshooting I found online from resetting the printer to replacing the sensor and still have this cartridge error. It is showing on the Y and C then changed to Y and B. I found some archived forums and it suggested to download the firmware. I tried to download and update the firmware", but when I got to update, it shows that it identified my printer, however it's grayed out and does not allow me to select on my printer to update firmware.

Please advise.

Thank you!

Hi @JunAbrqz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating to encounter cartridge problems with your HP Officejet 8610 Pro. Let's try a few more steps to see if we can resolve the issue.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the printhead using distilled water and a lint-free cloth.
  • Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Update Firmware Manually:

  • Download the latest firmware for your HP Officejet 8610 Pro from the official HP website.
  • Save the firmware file to your computer.
  • Run the firmware update utility and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Ensure your printer is connected to your computer during the update process.

Check Cartridge Expiration Dates:

  • Ensure that the cartridges you are using are not expired. Cartridges have a limited lifespan, and using expired ones might cause issues.

Replace Cartridges:

  • If you have access to spare cartridges, try replacing the problematic ones with new or different cartridges to see if the error persists.

Remember to handle the cartridges carefully and avoid touching the ink nozzles to prevent further issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
