@MGiuliana, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Instant Ink cartridges!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It looks like your HP OfficeJet 3833 printer is having trouble recognizing the Instant Ink cartridge. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Restart Your Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Reseat the Ink Cartridge

  1. Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door.
  2. Remove the Instant Ink cartridge that is causing the issue.
  3. Check for any protective tapes on the cartridge (if newly installed).
  4. Reinsert the cartridge firmly into its slot.
  5. Close the cartridge access door and check if the error is resolved.

Clean the Cartridge and Contacts

  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Remove the cartridge and inspect the copper-colored contacts.
  3. Gently wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  4. Let it dry completely, then reinstall the cartridge.

Update the Printer Firmware

  1. Ensure the printer is connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. On the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to update.

Check Your Instant Ink Subscription

  1. Log in to your HP Instant Ink account (https://instantink.hpconnected.com).
  2. Ensure your subscription is active and the cartridge is enrolled.
  3. If the subscription is expired or the cartridge is not recognized, you may need a replacement.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. With the printer on, unplug it from power.
  2. Hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
